Memphis metro school closings for Wednesday, January 28, 2009
The following is the status of closures at metro school districts.
Shelby County - CLOSED
Memphis City - CLOSED
Memphis Catholic - CLOSED
Fayette County - CLOSED
Tipton County - CLOSED
DeSoto County - CLOSED
West Memphis City - CLOSED
University of Memphis - OPEN
Also, Jackson/Madison County and Dyersburg City/Dyer County schools are closed. Visit WMC-TV for a complete list of closings and stay up to date on the forecast, warnings, and other weather information at MemphisWeather.net.

how about another update
good decision... Not a good day for 16 yr olde to learn to drive on snow/ice
All - Shelby County changed their minds after the snow fell and will now be CLOSED today. Memphis City Schools are OPEN. Streets within the city are likely in much better shape than the county roads in rural areas. I'm guessing that's what drove the decision-making. Sorry for the confusion earlier.
