MWN meteorologist Erik Proseus took the pics below of some fascinating clouds that occurred behind an outflow boundary that moved through the area this morning. The waves in the clouds were likely formed as the outflow disturbed the wind flow in a stable atmospheric layer, creating some very interesting patterns in the sky!
Following these clouds, showers & a few thunderstorms moved through. Since the storms were elevated in nature (the rising air of convection was located above the stable layer at the ground), the cloud bases were high enough to see some pretty nice lighting strikes. No pics of those though!
