Snow showers to sunshine! Memphis has seen it all this week. Tuesday brought a nasty cold front with a little winter precipitation, but thanks to the presence of some dry air that pushed over the metro, we saw little in the way of winter precip and no accumulation. Areas to our south were luckier though! Check out the video of snow falling on the campus of Mississippi State Tuesday evening!
The clouds and rain quickly moved out leaving Wednesday chilly but beautifully bright. Sadly the sunshine doesn't stick around much longer as clouds increase throughout the day on Thursday. Rain chances return Friday as a low pressure brings in gulf moisture. Temperatures stay mild in the 50s until our next cold front moves through the area on Monday. After a rainy start, skies recover quickly giving the middle of next week lots of sunshine.

Thursday-Saturday
Behind Tuesday’s cold front was a much-welcomed high pressure system. This high pressure is situated over Memphis and allowed for Wednesday to me a very sunny and beautiful day. This high pressure, however, won’t be sticking around for too long. Into Thursday a low-pressure system begins forming in the Gulf of Mexico. This system will eat away at the high-pressure system over us. Thanks to a southerly wind, gulf moisture will enter the upper levels of the region.

Sunday-Monday
Monday brings our next cold front and major weather maker. Throughout the day on Sunday, clouds begin to build back. There is a shot at a few evening showers, however, the majority of the rain will occur throughout the day on Monday. There may be a few heavier showers and rumbles of thunder mixed in along the front but nothing severe is expected at this time. Most of the precipitation will be out of the area Monday evening bringing much cooler air in overnight.

Tuesday-Wednesday
Tuesday brings back drier but colder conditions. Lots of sunshine available making midweek extremely pleasant. Despite most sunny conditions, the temperatures will be pretty chilly. Tuesday afternoon temperatures only peak in the mid-40s. Out the door temperatures for Wednesday will be quite chilly in the mid to upper 20s. So make sure to wear a sweater (ugly Christmas sweaters acceptable) and enjoy a few sunny December days!
